The Jack Shockley Warriors for Peace seek to honor the life and memory of a peacemaker—our son, brother, and friend, Jack Shockley, who in August 2020, at the age of 24, was murdered by handgun. He was the 117th of 215 murder victims in Indianapolis that year.
First, we will support scholarships to enable grade-school graduates from our center-city parishes—students who use their unique gifts to promote peace—to complete their Catholic education through high school.
Second, with time, talent, and treasure, we will promote peace and oppose gun violence by aiding the families of its victims and raising awareness of its devastating consequences.
In these ways, we will seek to honor Jack by bringing peaceful change to our world, one life at a time.
